about us
accentus, le jeune choeur de paris and the European progamme tenso are together to support the cultural influence of the vocal arts, training, research and creation.
In 2006 a new organisation came into being: erda l accentus. “erda” stands for education, research and artistic development. “accentus” indicates the realisation of links patiently forged over 15 years among different representatives of the vocal arts worldwide. The purpose of erda l accentus is to bring all that is best to the service of our repertoire.
This new organisation, which unites the vocal ensemble, accentus, with the jeune choeur de paris and the European tenso programme, has as its object the support and dissemination of the art of singing.
We hope to achieve our objective by three routes: production, with 17 different programmes this year; education, through the diversification of our educational and cultural activities; and research, of which the tenso programme is one of the prime movers.
accentus
accentus is a professional ensemble of 32 singers, founded in 1991 by Laurence Equilbey. It performs not only the principal works of the a cappella repertoire, but is also committed to the discovery and promotion of new music. accentus takes part in the main music festivals in France and internationally. The choir works regularly with the most renowned conductors and orchestras and is involved in opera and music drama.

le jeune choeur de paris
In 2002, Laurence Equilbey instituted the advanced course for young singers at the Paris Conservatoire of Music (CRR). Fifty students receive instruction from thirty teachers in fifteen disciplines, including vocal technique, music training, the study of different styles of music, theatre, chamber music, choral singing, and dance. As a vocal ensemble, le jeune chœur de paris is conducted by Laurence Equilbey and Geoffroy Jourdain. Its repertoire is already characterised by the inclusion of major cycles of works for a cappella chorus, and the choir is actively involved in the performance of new music.

tenso
tenso is a research and development programme whose aim is to explore, share and promote the inherited vocal repertoire. It was set up in 2004 at the instigation of Laurence Equilbey, Daniel Reuss, Geoffroy Jourdain and a number of European vocal ensembles. Media technology plays its part, with a web site, through which resources are shared. There are also workshops, publications and musical editions. New music is promoted through commissions and “tenso days”. By these means, there has now been created in Europe a new, dynamic program devoted to the art of singing.
