The first opus of Verdi’s “popular trilogy” takes over the Opéra de Rouen Normandie with a cast featuring the rising tenor Pene Patti as Duke of Mantua. This new production, staged by Richard Brunel, transposes the story of the famous jester in the midst of a ballet company. Ben Glassberg’s conducting electrifies this enticing and harrowing score.
