Requiem
Poignant? sublime? divine? with what words can we describe Mozart’s Requiem, that pinnacle of music against which the greatest superlatives seem to be overused?
The score is so exceptional that it gave rise to many fantasies about the circumstances of its composition. In this programme, accentus focuses on
to show Mozart’s true face, which is also that of his Masonic affiliation. The Maurerische Trauermusik, a funeral music written in memory of two lodge brothers, bears witness to this. A secular work in which one of the characteristics of the composer can be found, as in his sacred music: his humanity.
