Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem is one of the main pieces that forged accentus’ reputation since its creation in 1991. Its 2008 recording has become iconic, and is still considered to this day as one of the best interpretations of this score, which Fauré himself described to be “as delicate as [him]self”. Gounod’s Saint François d’Assise shares the same French aesthetic, recognisable by the limpidity of both harmony and orchestration, alongside a profound sense of spirituality.
