ANTONIO VIVALDI
Gloria RV 589
GEORG FRIEDRICH HAENDEL
Dixit Dominus
1h30 avec entracte
Italy is brought to the spotlight in this concert rendering the radiance of baroque polyphonic music. The young Georg Friedrich Haendel wrote his Dixit Dominus during a journey to Rome in 1707, based on a Latin psalm. The German and Lutheran composer draws inspiration from the Italian theatrical language to compose this virtuoso piece, overflowing with energy. This operatic writing is also fully perceivable in the work of the Venetian Antonio Vivaldi, his renowned Gloria most impressive due to its melodic liberty, energy and generosity.
