accentus opens celebrations of the Resonanzen early music festival at the Vienna Konzerthaus. Together with the Poème Harmonique and conducted by Vincent Dumestre, the choir will perform the well-named piece by Henry Purcell: Celebrate this festival, an ode composed in 1693 for Queen Mary’s birthday. The French 17th century will also be featured with extracts from Molière and Jean-Baptiste Lully’s comédie-ballets, who invented the genre to please Louis XIV, a dance enthusiast.
