For this season opening, accentus chooses to be daring. The choir will perform Schoenberg’s first a cappella piece, Friede auf Erden – a piece rarely sung due to its difficulty. The concert then features two cycles of motets from Brahms, and the premiere of two commissions to female contemporary composers. In her piece, Kaija Saariaho imagines the fate of Mars and the Earth in a futuristic madrigal. Sivan Eldar revisits the myth of the nymph Arethusa.
