Johann Sebastian Bach and Henry Purcell: two masters of baroque. The former, a fervent Lutheran, wrote an abundant body of work praising God, as did other family members, notably Johann Ludwig and Johann Christoph Bach. Purcell was a virtuosic composer who transcended the English, French and Italian styles, and whose speciality was religious vocal music, made up largely of an abundance of hymns and choral works. For this sacred music concert, accentus has invited Eamonn Dougan, associate conductor of the British ensemble The Sixteen.
